Always Shop Small!

Wow it's been quite a few months.... OK let's just be honest here, we haven't had a blog post since APRIL! Let's recap--

- The CAVS won the NBA Championship!

- Clara turned one!!

- We went on an AMAZING family vacation!

- We have another nephew on the way!

- Carson turned 3!!

- The INDIANS made it to Game 7 in the World Series!

- We just elected a new president........ we'll leave that one alone.

What's been happening with Ann Gregory Décor, you ask? WE CELEBRATED OUR 1ST BIRTHDAY!!

In our first year, we--

- Partied with 56 groups of women (+ a couple men & a handful of children/teens)

- Hosted 13 public events at local wineries and restaurants

- Helped two groups of people do DIY parties

- Sponsored (+ ran in) the Keira Kilbane 5k and contributed to 3 other charities

- Participated in a very wet but successful craft show

- Completed countless custom orders

- And made hundreds of new friends.

And that's not all! We've been working hard the past year to bring you quality wood products that you are proud of. This year, we plan to offer even more! We've launched our onesie + tee line and have tons more up our sleeves (get it?!) for the coming year! STAY TUNED! (but keep reading below!)

Our timeline of the year now brings us to CHRISTMAS... 'tis the season for snow, packed shopping malls, and forced family fun. (Or in our family, 'tis the season for "you're in college, you're old enough to drink" and 30 people chanting "LEFT! LEFT! LEFT!" around the dining room table!)

We have been very busy getting ready for the holiday season! We decided to do something this year to honor some of our favorite local small businesses that we have had the pleasure of getting to know this year. Some are bigger than others and of course we can't showcase everyone, but we would appreciate you giving them --and ALL other local businesses-- some extra love as you do your holiday shopping! [And don't forget Yours Truly!] Come back each week from now until Christmas to see our recommendations!

This is the shirt we both walked away with that day!

We met Harry from Art from Chris as we were just about knee-deep in mud and drenched in rain at Affair on the Square in Medina this July. When the tent sides were actually off, we couldn't stop oogling their products. From prints to t-shirts, Akron to Pittsburgh, they have everything you need to show your love for your city. They draw all of their own work and print them on soft, comfy, fitted tees.

Needless to say, we are in love, which is why we chose this local small business to be first on our holiday showcase list!

You can order online, or go meet them at one of their events and let them know we sent you! You can find their schedule [HERE] and don't forget to like them on Facebook!

We have known Beth and Rachel of Azalea Street since grade school! Azalea Street specializes in reclaimed furniture, one-of-a-kind pieces, and decor (their hand-printed tea towels are simply adorable and would make wonderful gifts!)

Before starting their business, these two sister-in-laws say they were both constantly drawn to the character and beauty of older furniture. Despite chipped paint, laminate, and dirt, they had a keen eye for the beauty underneath! What started as a hobby quickly turned into a business in August 2016, as others saw the skill in their work. They are now vendors for The Hudson Flea and The Hartville Flea Market, as well as several craft shows and festivals!

Follow them on Facebook and Etsy to see more of their creations, and keep in mind that they do FREE local deliveries to the Akron Area!

Giving back has always been a component of our personal lives, so integrating it into our business was key. Shortly after we started our business last year, we were given the opportunity to collaborate with “Medina Made”, a not-for-profit consignment shop filled with locally-made goods and benefitting adults with developmental disabilities. Local artists and businesses (including yours truly!) supply their products for sale, and adults with developmental disabilities run the show, with 30% of the sale going back into supporting the programs of the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities. There is truly something for everyone, including homemade jewelry, headbands, blankets, apparel, home décor, toys, rugs, pillows, food products, furniture, and more.

Tomorrow is traditionally known as “Small Business Saturday”, and we can’t think of a small business in the area more deserving than this one! Come out and support their holiday open house from 11-6, with refreshments, Christmas crafts, face painting, and photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus! While you’re there, pick up some of our signs for sale, or find some other one-of-a-kind gifts for everyone on your Christmas list!

Here are some of our products that will be available tomorrow! Check out Medina Made's Facebook page for more information!
